Innova Ape

Ape Champion Innova Ape

The Innova Ape is not a good disc for beginners. Initially I thought that throwing the Ape would be a great disc for making hyzer distant shots with a strong fade. Well it might be for power players, but I’m not a power player yet. When we throw the Ape forehand it fades so sharply that it almost drops directly vertical. This lack of glide and stability prevents it from getting any real distance. We can throw our mid range discs as far as we usually get the Ape.

For players who are more experienced, and can really throw with distance, the Ape is probably a great driver. It is one of the high speed drivers with a (13) rating. The Ape should have strong glide (5), no turn (0), and a sharp fade of  4.

Innova Ape Champion Distance Disc Golf Driver 2012 – The Ape can handle the raw, primal power of disc golfs biggest arms. Extremely fast and stable, the Ape is a must have distance driver for windy conditions and sharp doglegs. Sidearm drivers will learn the Ape is more than capable of standing up to even the most intense torque. The Ape is an outstanding choice for backhand or sidearm throws as well as a variety of niche flex shots. With less high speed turn than a Boss, the Ape is not recommended for players who throw less than 300ft. Features: Best choice for Headwind drives, Distance hyzers and Power sidearm.
