Bernoulli Discs Reviw

Bernoulli Biodegradable driver in foliage

Bernoulli is a new disc golf company that recently entered the market. They currently have three PDGA-approved discs: a putter, a midrange, and a driver.

I’ve had a chance to test these discs for a while now, and they are all excellent molds.

Bernoulli Discs are manufactured in China. However, unlike many other Chinese disc manufacturers, the owner of Bernoulli actually knows and plays disc sports. I had the opportunity to meet Kai, the owner, who gave me these discs to test. He lives in the US for most of the year and was a student at the University of Arizona, where he learned to play disc golf. His business partner is American.

Johnson Driver

The Johnson driver is a fantastic understable driver that is easy to throw straight and far with moderate power. Bernoulli gives it a speed of 9, but I found it might be a bit slower than that. The Johnson has a comfortable feel, with a gradual aerodynamic shape and a nice, slightly flat top. This disc excels at hyzer flips and also works well for low-power forehand throws.

Einstein Midrange

Bernoulli MidrangeI can’t express enough how much I love the Einstein. Bernoulli gives it flight ratings of 5/4/-1/1, but I’d say it has better glide and is slightly more understable than that, at least with my orange Einstein, which has been worn in a bit.

The Einstein is compact for a midrange disc and has an aerodynamic feel. The top is almost entirely flat, which I love for consistent releases. The plastic on my tester disc is soft, which is excellent for playing in the cold—unfortunately, the reality for most of us who want to keep playing this time of year.

The Einstein performs exceptionally for moderate-power, dead-straight hyzer flip shots. Its minimal fade is perfect for narrow fairways where you need a disc to finish straight. I can comfortably push this disc to about 270 feet with a smooth, regular throw.

Bernoulli Putter

Bernoulli Putter ProfileYes, the putter shares the brand’s name, and it’s another excellent disc.

Like the others, it has a nice flat top, which I appreciate. It reminds me of the Latitude 64 Dagger, though it’s not quite as deep. It has a big bead and a good overall feel.

It took me a bit of time to get used to the “square” feel of the Bernoulli Putter, but once I did, I really enjoyed it as both a thrower and a putting putter. Unlike the other Bernoulli discs, it has a stable flight. It’s still a putter, though, so it doesn’t fade much, making it a great complement to the Einstein for playing short courses using only Bernoulli discs.

The three Bernoulli discs together make an excellent starter set.

Overall, these are great discs with good flights, especially for new and intermediate players. But are they any better than other discs? Do they offer something unique?

In this case, the answer is actually yes—they are different.

How is Bernoulli Different?

Bernoulli has several plastic variations, all slightly less durable than typical disc plastics. What sets Bernoulli apart is its focus on environmentally friendly materials. They currently offer different plastic types, including one made from recycled materials, another from wood-derived plastics, and a variety made from natural biodegradable materials.

The recycled-materials disc felt a bit slippery to me, but the wood-based plastic discs feel really good for a base plastic blend.

Biodegradable Discs

Biodegrading decomposing disc golf discThe biodegradable material disc felt nice, but I’m not sure it’s practical. If you lose it in the woods and it decomposes, it essentially becomes useless. While it’s great to reduce plastic pollution, most disc golf discs can be found and reused, even after years in a pond.

Kai also showed me how the biodegradable disc decays by showing me one that had been buried for two weeks. It was cool to see it decompose, but trust me, it didn’t smell pleasant.

While I’m not entirely convinced that biodegradable discs are the future, if you care about the environment and want to minimize waste, Bernoulli is a brand where you can align your purchases with your values.
